Sustainable Packaging & Product Design Concept
DESIGN BRIEF
Design a facewash concept with a product & packaging inspired by the brand Forgo, focusing on sustainability.
OUR GOAL
To design a sustainable face wash that tackles overconsumption and CO2 emissions by using locally sourced ingredients and biodegradable packaging. The aim was to create a product that represents natural self-care while promoting local growth and circular economy principles.
OUR RESEARCH
We researched and brainstormed about materials and natural ingredients for a facewash product and packaging, based on the insight of how we could make a sustainable solution we came up with this circular strategy for Havre:
Challenges & Approach:
Circular Design: We wanted to ensure that both the product and its packaging could be part of the same eco-friendly life cycle. By using oats as the main ingredient for both the face wash and the packaging, we aimed to reduce the need for additional resources and lower CO2 emissions.
User Convenience: The product had to be easy to use, with a solid monodose format, while also minimizing waste.
Method & Process:
Collaborated with the team to develop a solid face wash made from oats and clay, which can be used by mixing it with water.
Designed the packaging from oat paper pulp, ensuring that it is compostable and includes seeds, so that after use, the packaging can be planted or fully recycled.
Focused on creating a low-carbon product, including minimal ink use and local production to further reduce environmental impact.
OUR IDEA
What if the product & packaging were made of the same product?
We researched the benefits of using oats in a facewash & brainstormed around the idea of creating the packaging from the same ingredient, using the leftover from the oat steam as a pulp material for the packaging of the facewash. The Havre concept was born.

HAVRE
Your daily selfcare
A local produced facewash made of oats with a monodose format to help reduce CO2-emissions and overconsumption of products.
Design Features:
Monodose Format: Each bar is designed to last for one week, reducing product overuse and waste.
Local Production: Oats were sourced locally to cut down on transportation emissions, supporting both sustainability and local agriculture.
Packaging as Part of the Product: The oat paper pulp box aligns with the product’s natural origins and ensures that no part of the packaging is wasted—it can be composted or planted to promote local growth.
